US Air Force B-52 Bomber Crashes Shortly After Takeoff, 8 Killed

A B-52 Stratofortress from the United States Air Force has gone down in the California desert, resulting in the deaths of all eight individuals aboard, as reported by military authorities.

The long-range bomber was conducting a routine test flight on Monday when it fell shortly after departing from Edwards Air Force Base, located roughly 95km (60 miles) north of Los Angeles.

Aerial images of the accident scene revealed a massive column of black smoke ascending into the sky from an extensive area of charred earth.

Colonel James Hayes About B-52 Bomber Crash

Colonel James Hayes informed a news conference that authorities concluded that survival was impossible for anyone involved in the crash.

“Today, a terrible tragedy struck Edwards Air Force Base, resulting in the loss of eight remarkable Americans,” Hayes stated.
“This accident is considered to be fatal, and at this moment, our thoughts and prayers are with the families.”

Hayes stated that the flight was assisting the US Air Force’s “radar modernization program” and included a “mixed crew” comprising military personnel, civilian government workers, and government contractors.

“Currently, we lack any information regarding the cause of this,” Hayes stated.

He mentioned that the investigation into the B-52 Bomber Crash could take “more than six months” to finish.
Edwards Air Force Base announced on social media that the airfield is closed and all incoming aircraft are being redirected.
