Opening Embassies in Jerusalem Will Not Change Its Palestinian Status, Says Al-Aqsa Preacher
Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, the head of the Higher Islamic Council in Jerusalem and the preacher of the Aqsa Mosque, declared on Tuesday that Jerusalem “was, is and will continue to be Palestinian,” emphasizing that establishing embassies in the city would not alter its status.

His comments were made in a statement after the inauguration of an embassy for the self-proclaimed Somaliland region in occupied Jerusalem on Monday, which was attended by Somaliland leader Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi and Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar.
