Keir Starmer led the Labour Party to win the election in 2024 with the majority in a long time. After that Keir Starmer focused on what he thought could really happen of saying what he wanted Britain to be like in the future.

Many people who voted for the Labour Party and people in the Labour Party started to think that Keir Starmer did not really believe in anything and did not know what he wanted to do. Than 20 people in the Labour Party said this. Keir Starmer did not have a plan.

Without an idea of what he wanted Keir Starmer was pulled in different directions by different groups in the Labour Party. People, with their interests also tried to influence him. And many people who voted did not understand him they did not like that he could not make up his mind and that he seemed like a robot when he talked.

The policies of Starmer often fell apart and people from his team quit or got fired so the people who still worked with him and trusted him had a time helping him tell the country what his government wanted to do to change Britain.

Starmer, who is 63 years old started to rely more on his wife Victoria for good advice. On May 12 he had a lunch with Victoria just five days after the local election results were really bad for Labour and some people said he should quit. After lunch Starmer felt like he wanted to keep going.

It was a weekend at Chequers, the country house of the minister, with his wife Victoria that seemed to make Starmer change his mind and decide to resign because it seemed like that was what he had to do.

Keir Starmer was once seen as the leader who would bring stability to Britain after years of chaos. When he quit as minister on Monday it was his lack of clear ideas that led to his downfall.

Starmer became the leader of the Labour Party in 2024 with a majority in parliament.. Instead of having a clear plan for Britains future he focused on what he thought was possible to achieve.

Many voters and party members started to think he lacked conviction and direction. Than 20 people close to the party said he didn’t have a big idea to lead the country.

Without a direction Starmer was pulled in different directions by different groups within the party. He was also lobbied by interest groups and misunderstood by voters. Many voters started to dislike what they saw as his indecision and robotic speeches.

Keir Starmer turned to his wife for counsel

Starmer often turned to his wife Victoria for advice. On May 12 after local election results he had a long lunch with her and decided to keep going.

A weekend away at his country home with his wife seemed to make him realize it was time to quit. He announced his resignation outside his office in Downing Street.

He said he would do everything to make sure the transition of power to the Labour leader was smooth. He thought his rival Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester would be the next leader.

“I have to think about whether I’m the best person to lead the party into the next election ” he said in an emotional speech. “I have heard what my party thinks. I accept it.”

By the end Starmer was very unpopular with voters because of promises and changes in policy. Even some of his allies thought it was time for him to step down.

His promises to fight to keep his job didn’t last long. Most in the party didn’t think he was the person to lead them into the next election in 2029.

Andy Burnham won an election, in northwestern England and is now seen as the person who could keep the populist party of Nigel Farage from gaining power.

Catherine West, a lawmaker said “I would do anything to stop Farage”. She did this over the weekend of May 9-10. She wanted to force others to challenge the minister.

This is not how things were supposed to go.

Labour lawmaker Starmer became a lawmaker in 2015 when he was 52 years old. Five years later he was elected as the leader. He took over the party after it had a bad election result. This was the result since 1935. The person before him was Jeremy Corbyn. He was a left-winger. Corbyn had problems with people saying he was antisemitic and his Brexit policy was not clear.

Starmer used the experience he got from running the Crown Prosecution Service to try to make the Labour Party better. He wanted to make it a party that could win elections.

When he was in charge of the Crown Prosecution Service he was like the prosecutor in Britain. He solved problems in a way. First he got rid of the antisemitism problem. Then he stopped the factions from fighting. He made sure the party had money. He picked the Labour lawmakers to be, on his team. Finally he made policies that would help Britain.
