US will assist in the release of a $300 billion reconstruction fund backed by regional partners once a final agreement is achieved.

US President Donald Trump and Iranian leader Masoud Pezeshkian signed an agreement aimed at concluding the Middle East conflict, with Tehran consenting to reduce its enriched uranium in exchange for substantial economic assistance.

Trump signed the memorandum of understanding during a candlelit dinner at the Palace of Versailles after a G7 summit, as host French President Emmanuel Macron and other attendees clapped, a video shared by a Trump aide revealed.

“Just signed it,” Trump informed reporters while exiting the palace.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei, as reported by the state news agency IRNA, stated that the document “was completed with the presidents’ signatures.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on X that it “will take effect immediately.”
The agreement seeks to put an end to the conflict initiated on February 28 by the United States and Israel, which led Iran to retaliate with missile and drone strikes throughout the area — effectively closing the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passage for the global economy. The US reacted by prohibiting maritime transport to and from Iranian ports.
“PM Shehbaz wrote that as an initial measure, the Islamic Republic of Iran will promptly reopen the Strait of Hormuz and the United States of America will quickly remove the naval blockade.”
Beneath the text, Washington also pledges to swiftly lift oil sanctions damaging Iran’s economy.

Once a conclusive agreement is achieved regarding the Islamic republic’s nuclear program, the United States will also enable the disbursement of a $300 billion reconstruction fund backed by neighboring countries, according to the deal.

Historic Deal: Trump and Iran’s President Agree to End Regional War

The deal was previously scheduled for signing by Iran’s chief negotiator and parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, along with US Vice President JD Vance. Iran stated that a physical ceremony was no longer required.

Iran maintained that the agreement symbolized a “failure” for the US.
“People will perceive it and form judgments,” Ghalibaf stated on state television late Wednesday, following the release of the text by both parties.

Emphasizing the worldwide significance of any agreement, China stated on Wednesday that its leading diplomat had conveyed to Tehran the importance for all parties to “truly fulfill” their obligations.

However, Trump’s choice to end the conflict, which resulted in the deaths of 13 US troops and significant depletion of US ammunition supplies, has troubled certain allies within his own country.
The accord is merely a provisional setup designed to allow time for initiating in-depth talks on the much more intricate matter of persistent oversight of Iran’s nuclear aspirations, which Washington has long feared might conceal a covert bomb-production initiative.

On Wednesday, Trump stated that he was ready to “bomb the hell” out of Iran if they breached the agreement.

However, US Senator Bill Cassidy, a member of Trump’s Republican Party, was harshly critical.

“Iran’s nuclear goals have not been limited, and they have realized that intimidating the Strait of Hormuz is effective,” he stated. “Restrictions will be removed, and the airstrikes have ceased.” “This is the most significant foreign policy mistake in years.”
Naim Qassem, the leader of Hezbollah, referred to the agreement on Wednesday as a “significant triumph” for Iran.

He expressed gratitude to Tehran for maintaining that the ceasefire should include Lebanon, which became involved in the clash when Hezbollah launched rockets at Israel on March 2 in solidarity with Iran.

A two-month negotiation phase is set to commence, starting with the highly awaited reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the agreement disclosed by US authorities, Iran will reduce its enriched uranium reserves, potentially through “on-site down-blending under the oversight of the IAEA” — the UN’s nuclear monitoring agency.

This would result in broader economic support for Iran.
However, a US official stated that Washington would not need to provide financial support.

Oil prices have plummeted in recent days as hopes increased for a durable peace deal in the Middle East, but changed direction on Wednesday.

Prices surged 5% temporarily as uncertainty arose regarding the signing, before leveling off later in the day.
